Oncologist Michael B. Wax , MD, joins his SMG colleagues named to "Top Doctor" lists. He has been named a “Nurses’ Choice: Top Doctor” by New Jersey Monthly magazine. Dr. Wax is one of 180 physicians representing 31 medical specialties to be named to the list.
Dr. Wax earned his BS at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, and he earned his MD at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He completed residencies with Hahnemann University Hospital and the Hospital of the Medical College of Pennsylvania, both in Philadelphia. Dr. Wax also completed a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington. He is board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine.
In addition to his position at Summit Medical Group, Dr. Wax is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He is a member of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey and the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group. Dr. Wax is listed in Castle Connolly's "Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area" and New Jersey Monthly's “Top Doctors 2009.”
For the Nurses’ Choice list of top doctors, the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute (NJHCQI) commissioned an independent survey of the state’s nurses by the Polling Institute at Monmouth University in West Long Branch. All licensed New Jersey nurses were invited to make their choices through an online survey.
