The American College of Surgeons National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) has recently fully accredited the Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center. To achieve the honor, the Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center met 27 NAPBC standards that ensure patients have access to a full range of services critical for continuity of care. The 3-year accreditation is based on the Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center commitment to providing the highest quality evaluation and management of patients with breast disease.
In particular, the NAPBC recognized the Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center for having an "exemplary nurse navigation system" that can be modeled for best practices. In addition, the NAPBC noted that the Center's onsite imaging "makes access to patients and communication between specialists easy." Suveyors added, "It was a pleasure surveying the [Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center] program! The medical director, nurse navigator, and nurse navigator team are key to the program's success. They are focused on providing high-quality care to each patient, with strong support from their administration." The NAPBC also noted that "the facility is beautiful" and the services and physicians are integrated in one building, which helps expedite multidisciplinary care. They added that "the atmosphere in the Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center is friendly and supports its high patient satisfaction rate. With its ongoing quality improvement initiatives, the Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center provides a high standard of care to its patients."

NAPBC-accredited centers offer:

- Access to breast cancer-related information, education, and support
- Breast cancer data collection on quality indicators for all subspecialties involved in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment
- Ongoing monitoring and improvement of care

NAPBC accreditation is only granted to centers that are voluntarily committed to providing the best possible care to patients with diseases of the breast. Each breast center must undergo a rigorous evaluation and review of its performance and compliance with NAPBC standards. To maintain accreditation, centers must monitor compliance with NAPBC standards to ensure quality care and undergo an onsite review every 3 years.
