Summit Medical Group is pleased to welcome Hazar Michael, MD, to Summit Medical Group Gastroenterology. Dr. Michael's expertise includes all aspects of therapeutic endoscopy, including endoscopic ultrasound, highly therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, luminal stents, and endoscopic treatment for Barrett's esophagus. In addition to her position at Summit Medical Group, Dr. Michael is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick. 

Before joining the Group, Dr. Michael was Director of Endoscopic Ultrasound at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, both in New Brunswick. She also has been Director of Endoscopy and Endoscopic Ultrasound at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, New York, Assistant Professor of Medicine at the State University of New York School of Medicine in Stony Brook, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

Dr. Michael earned her MD at Damascus University School of Medicine in Syria. After graduating, she completed her residency in internal medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York, where she was designated Chief Resident. She completed fellowships in gastroenterology and endoscopic ultrasound at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Winthrop University Hospital, respectively.

Dr. Michael is a recipient of the Damascus University School of Medicine Academic Excellence Award and Albert Einstein School of Medicine Outstanding Teacher Certificate of Distinction. She is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine.

Dr. Michael joins the outstanding Summit Medical Group Gastroenterology team, including Adam F. Barrison, MD, Joseph A. Belladonna, MD, Tamir Ben-Menachem, MD, MS, and J. Scott Gillin, MD, FACP, and Mary McCormick, MSN, MP-C.
