H1N1 Vaccine Clinic Updates

Last updated: Jan 19, 2010, 10:01 AM

The NJ Department of Health has lifted priority group restrictions for the H1N1 vaccine; therefore, any Summit Medical Group patient is now eligible to receive it.

We are not offering additional H1N1 vaccination clinics at this time. We will soon provide information on our Web site about how to get an H1N1 vaccination. Please check back.

Important Information

  • The CDC recommends that children age 6 months to 9 years receive 2 doses of the H1N1 vaccine for full coverage from the virus. The doses must be given 4 weeks apart. As with all H1N1 vaccinations, availability depends on delivery from the manufacturer
  • The H1N1 vaccine has undergone the same production, research, and testing processes required for all vaccines
  • Because children who have not been exposed to the H1N1 virus will have no natural immunity to the disease, it is important to immunize them as soon as possible to limit spread of the disease
  • The H1N1 virus is no more severe than the seasonal flu; however, parents who believe their child is experiencing H1N1 symptoms should take the same steps to seek medical care as they would for any flu
