Summit Medical Group and its employees raised more than 30K for relief efforts following the January 12 earthquake in Haiti.
After an outpouring of employee requests to help the people of Haiti, SMG President and CEO Simon Samaha, MD, arranged for employees to donate funds through a one-time payroll deduction from their January 31 paychecks. The deductions were allocated to Doctors Without Borders, an international medical humanitarian organization, and/or the Cotey Foundation, which organizes medical missions to impoverished villages throughout Haiti. Dr. Samaha promised further assistance from SMG with a matching gift of up to $100.00 for each employee donation.
Summit Medical Group employees pledged $15,835.00 to be deducted from their paychecks this week. More than 200 employees allocated their donations to Doctors without Borders, 175 employees donate funds to The Cotey Foundation, and 110 employees split their donation between the groups. As promised, SMG matched the employees' donations for a total of $31,670.00.
Please join SMG on Friday, April 16, from 5 PM to 8 PM, as we host an art show, including live music and refreshments, to benefit the restoration of Haiti. A portion of all sales from the show will be donated for continued relief efforts.
