Simon J. Samaha, MD, New President and Chief Executive Officer, Summit Medical Group
Simon J. Samaha, MD, is the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Summit Medical Group, the largest independently operated, multispecialty medical practice in New Jersey. An experienced executive leader, Dr. Samaha has extensive experience in strategic and fiscal planning, operations, business development, and information systems. Most recently, Dr. Samaha was Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ, where he oversaw the 375-member University Physicians Practice.
Dr. Samaha has held successive positions of increasing responsibility at Cooper University Hospital since 1993, where he completed his medical internship and then joined the Department of Internal Medicine. After serving for almost 2 years as Medical Information Officer, he became Vice President and Chief Information Officer in 2001. He was then designated Acting Chief Operating Officer and Chief Information Officer/Vice President of Information Technology. He was appointed Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations at Cooper University Hospital in 2004, where he oversaw most clinical departments, including information technology, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, and quality programs. In 2007, Cooper was named one of the "Most Wired" health care organizations in the country.
Dr. Samaha earned his MBA at New York University Stern School of Business, his MS in Information Systems at Drexel University, and his MD at Saint Joseph Univeristy in Lebanon. He is listed in Modern Healthcare's "2001 Up and Comers." He is board certified in internal medicine and practiced in internal medicine until 2004.
