On May 4, 2012, Summit Medical Group was a proud Bronze Sponsor of the third anniversary celebration of Curémonos, a grassroots, community-based organization that helps medically underserved women with breast health issues. Summit Medical Group plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Peter Hyans, MD, and US Senator Robert Menendez were guest speakers at the event.

With both English and Spanish roots,
Curémonos means healing together.

In addition to helping, guiding, and educating medically underserved women with breast cancer and other breast health concerns, Curémonos is a safe haven during a time of uncertainty. Its programs help eliminate barriers and disparities that medically underserved and uninsured women encounter with medical care and services. The organization provides all of its programs and services free of charge.

Dr. Hyans is Medical Director of the Plastic Surgery Center and Chair of the Department of Surgery and Surgical Specialties at Summit Medical Group. A board-certified plastic surgeon, he has more than 15 years’ experience in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery as well as facial rejuvenation and body contouring. Dr. Hyans is a founding member and board member of Curémonos

Curémonos Founder and Executive Director, Dora Arias notes,"We are humbled by the courage of our survivors, the compassion of health care providers, the kindness of our volunteers, the generosity of strangers, and the support of our visionaries. Because of them, Curémonos has evolved into an organization that makes a difference in the lives of medically underserved Latinas affected by breast cancer."

The event, which was held at the Park Avenue Club in Florham Park, featured the music of Luis Sima and Band, an auction to benefit Curémonos's programs, and remarks by Karen Scoff, a Curémonos volunteer and product specialist for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.

A unique model for philanthropy, the Park Avenue Club supports charitable and cultural organizations through its relationship with the Park Avenue Foundation. The Park Avenue Club celebrates the spirit of giving in the community while offering the highest level of member service.
