Westfield Orthopods Join Group

David D. Bullek, MD, Albert B. Thrower MDand David M. Deramo, MD, formerly of the Center for Orthopaedic Surgery-Sports Medicine, have combined their orthopedic practice at 202 Elmer Street in Westfield, New Jersey, with Summit Medical Group Sports Medicine.

Dr. Bullek earned his BA magna cum laude at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, and his MD at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine. Designated Academic All American Football Player during college, Dr. Bullek understands the issues and medical needs of athletes. After graduating, he completed his internship in surgery and residency in orthopedic surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. His fellowship in knee reconstruction and sports medicine was completed at Beth Israel Medical Center Insall Scott Kelly Institute for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, also in New York City. Dr Bullek specializes in sports medicine as well as knee, hip, and shoulder replacement surgery. He has practiced in Westfield, New Jersey, since 1984. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Thrower earned his BS at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and his MD at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in general surgery and orthopedics at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and his residency in pediatric orthopedics at Children’s Hospital, both located in Philadelphia. Dr. Thrower has been practicing orthopedic surgery in Westfield since 1982. He is Founder of the Center for Orthopedic Surgery-Sports Medicine in Westfield, New Jersey, and a member of the staff at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey, where he was Acting Chief for the Section of Orthopedic Surgery. He also has been Team Physician for several local high schools. Dr. Thrower is board certified in orthopedic surgery. His clinical expertise includes shoulder and knee disorders.

Dr. Deramo earned his BS in biology cum laude at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and his MD at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the State University of New York in Stony Brook and his fellowship in sports medicine at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. While in Maryland, he was Assistant Team Physician for the National Football League's Baltimore Ravens and Major Indoor Soccer League’s Baltimore Blast. He also has been Assistant Team Physician for Johns Hopkins University, Loyola College, and Morgan State University Athletics. Dr. Deramo specializes in arthroscopic procedures, including complex surgery of the shoulder and knee and is board eligible in orthopedic surgery.
