An endocrinologist with the Summit Medical Group Diabetes Live Well Program, Amy M. Toscano-Zukor, DO, has expertise in helping patients manage their diabetes through blood glucose monitoring, medication management, proper diet and exercise, and weight management. Dr. Toscano-Zukor advocates preventive measures to achieve, maintain, and improve her patients' health. For this reason, she educates her patients about all aspects of their condition, including the importance of eye and foot care.
An active volunteer, Dr. Toscano-Zukor has donated her skills and knowledge to share important information about other health issues. She has promoted community cervical cancer screening and participated in educational programs for adolescent girls and women about breast cancer, the importance of self examinations, and mammography. She also has delivered presentations to elementary school children about the dangers of smoking. Recently, Dr. Toscano-Zukor has delivered a community lecture about the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of osteoporosis as well as lectures to educate practitioners about treatment options for patients with diabetes.
In addition to her position at Summit Medical Group, Dr. Toscano-Zukor is a member of the Diabetes Performance Improvement Committee at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey. She is a recipient of more than 10 honors and awards, including the Diabetes Foundation Diabetes Fellow of the Year Award.
