In addition to his position at Summit Medical Group, Bernard A. Rawlins, MD, is an attending surgeon in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He also is Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City. Dr. Rawlins has been Attending Surgeon in Orthopedic Surgery at New York Hospital and he was Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. In addition to maintaining his practice in New York City, Dr. Rawlins will help build a comprehensive spine center at Summit Medical Group.

Dr. Rawlins has been Principal Investigator and Co-investigator for research projects primarily devoted to spinal disorders. To his credit, he has patented implants for spinal stabilization as well as a method for increasing bone density. He is the author or coauthor of articles, abstracts, and book chapters on these and related topics. His articles and abstracts are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Spine, Bone, Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, and Journal of Spine Disorders.

Dr. Rawlins is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Scoliosis Research Society, Cervical Spine Research Society, American Orthopaedic Association, North American Spine Society, and American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, among others. He is the recipient of more than 9 honors and awards, including the Hospital for Special Surgery Nancy Kane Bischoff Mentor Award. Dr. Rawlins is listed in Castle Connolly's "America's Top Doctors."
