David M. Schreck, MD, MS, FACP, FACEP, is Chairman and Medical Director of the Summit Medical Group Department of Emergency and Hospital Medicine. In addition, he is Vice Chairman in the Department of Medicine at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey. He also is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, and Adjunct Professor of Chemical Biology and Physiology at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.
Dr. Schreck was recently designated a Fellow in Hospital Medicine—an elite honor the Society of Hospital Medicine awards physicians who are dedicated to quality and process improvement, organizational teamwork, and life-long learning and education. He is a recipient of the Consumers’ Research Council of America-America’s Top Physicians Award. Dr. Schreck is a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and American Board of Internal Medicine, a fellow of the American College of Physicians and American College of Emergency Physicians, and a member of the American Medical Association, Society for Critical Care Medicine, and Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, among others. He has been Chairman for the Capital Health System Department of Emergency Medicine and Medical Director of the Mercer County Emergency Medical System, both in Trenton, New Jersey, and Chief in the Department of Emergency Medicine for Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield, New Jersey.
To his credit, Dr. Schreck has volunteered his expertise with the Summit Board of Health, where he has been President, Vice President, and Medical Director. He is currently Medical Advisor for Summit Helping Its People. He also has been a research mentor for high school and college students in the area.
Dr. Schreck is the author or coauthor of articles and abstracts, which are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Critical Care Medicine, Annals of Emergency Medicine, and Academic Emergency Medicine. He is a masters level biomedical engineer with patents in cardiovascular stenting and EKG signal processing. A sought-after speaker, Dr. Schreck has delivered many local, regional, national, and international invited presentations in his field. He has been featured in the New Jersey Monthly "Top Doctors" listings.
