Personal Notes:

Gina Byrnes, MSW, LCSW, has expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy and psychotherapy for adults in individual, family, marital, and group counseling. Her experience includes crisis intervention and counseling for depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress syndrome, personality disorders, adjustment disorders, and eating disorders. She has managed patients through illnesses such as cancer and kidney disease, those entering nursing homes, and those with end-of-life issues.

Before joining Summit Medical Group, Ms. Byrnes was a clinical coordinator for the Hunterdon Behavioral Health Day Hospital Program in Flemington, New Jersey. She has been a mental health clinician for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey University Behavioral Health Brief Treatment Services, a psychotherapist for the Center for Psychology and Counseling in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and a case manager for the Princeton House Women’s Trauma Program.

Ms. Byrnes became a therapist because of her fascination with the relationship between thoughts and behavior. She says, "I'm interested in the different ways people perceive experiences and how their perception translates into behavior." She adds, "I'm gratified by helping give my patients the tools to manage and alleviate stress. I tailor each patient's therapy so that it addresses his or her unique needs and goals."
