Margaret Eckler, RD, CDE, BC-ADM, has more than 20 years' experience helping people with diabetes manage their disease. At Summit Medical Group, Ms. Eckler helps patients improve their health through positive lifestyle and behavorial changes. In addition, she consults with endocrinologists and primary care physicians to help develop treatment strategies for patients with diabetes. She is a certified insulin pump trainer and a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators.

Ms. Eckler notes, "I have learned the importance of listening and being flexible to each patient's individual needs. I find out how much patients know about their condition and help them make gradual changes that they can sustain. Although this approach takes time and patience, the rewards can be long lasting."

When she is not working with her patients, Ms. Eckler enjoys her family and gardening. She is especially interested in environmental and health benefits of eating locally-grown food.
