Michael K. Shindle, MD, has expertise in sports medicine-related injuries of the shoulder and knee as well as foot and ankle surgery. His training and experience allow him to provide comprehensive care for athletes, including those who participate in professional, collegiate, high school, and recreational sports.
Dr. Shindle is a consultant for the National Football League New York Giants as well as Assistant Team Physician for the Major League Soccer New York Red Bulls, Team Physician for USA Hockey, Team Physician for Fairleigh Dickenson University, and Assistant Coach with the New Jersey Colonials.
Dr. Shindle was recently designated Head Team Physician for the USA Hockey Mens National Team at the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada. A USA Hockey certified coach, he recently completed the highest level of training at the USA Hockey Continuing Education Program in Washington DC. Although there are approximately 60,000 USA hockey-certified coaches, only 3% of them have obtained the Level-5 recognition Dr. Shindle earned in Washington, DC.
Dr. Shindle covered the 2011 US Men's National Select Hockey Team that competed at the Deutschland Cup in Munich. He has been Assistant Coach for the Madison High School Varsity Ice Hockey Team in Madison, New Jersey, and he was a graduate assistant coach and captain for the University of Delaware Ice Hockey Team.
Dr. Shindle's research interests are primarily devoted to rotator cuff repair, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, distal biceps repair, articular cartilage injuries, and sports foot and ankle injuries. He is the author of articles, abstracts, and book chapters on these and related topics, some of which are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, American Journal of Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy.
Dr. Shindle has delivered more than 60 local, regional, national, and international invited presentations in his field. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Association of North America, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, among others.
Dr. Shindle is a native of Madison, New Jersey, where he lives with his family.
