Stephen Kocaj, MD, is an orthopedist in practice with Summit Medical Group and an orthopedic surgeon at Morristown Memorial Medical Center, both in Morristown, New Jersey. In addition, he is Team Physician for the Fairleigh Dickinson University Athletics Department. His expertise includes injuries of the upper and lower extremities such as ligamentous injuries of the shoulder, elbow, and knee and cartilage restoration of the knee.

Dr. Kocaj’s professional experience includes Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Emory University and Orthopedist at the Emory University Level-I Trauma Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He also has been an assistant team physician for the University of Alabama, Jacksonville State Gamecocks, Birmingham Barons Baseball American Association, Georgia Tech Football Team, and Georgia Tech Basketball Team. Dr. Kocaj is a recipient of the 2011 Patients' Choice Award for his outstanding care and services, including his bedside manner, approach to patient visits, follow-up care, availability for appointments, and the courtesy of his office staff.

A member of the football and men’s lacrosse teams when he was at Middlebury College, Dr. Kocaj is an experienced athlete who understands the importance of accurate, effective medical interventions that improve an athlete’s ability to perform at his or her highest level.
