Ann Welenofsky, RN, Oncology Services, Summit Medical Group MD Anderson Cancer Center, has been named a finalist for Nurse of the Year in the 2017 NJBiz Healthcare Heroes awards. The Healthcare Hero program honors the best individuals and organizations that are making a significant impact on the quality of health care in New Jersey. An independent panel of judges evaluated nominees and selected finalists in nine categories, including Healthcare Professional of the Year, Hospital of the Year, Innovation Hero, Nurse of the Year, and Physician of the Year, among others.
In her more than thirty years as an oncology nurse, Ann has made an indelible impact on thousands of patients, family members, and colleagues. Ann has trained dozens of nurses and helped build the oncology practice at Summit Medical Group. She was instrumental in the expansion of infusion services at the Berkeley Heights campus as well as the coordination of infusion services at three other SMG New Jersey locations. Today, she serves as a clinical coordinator of oncology in Berkeley Heights and Clifton. She also oversees all SMG rheumatology infusion services. Over the past year, Ann has also played a key role in the development of the Summit Medical Group MD Anderson partnership.
The winners will announced at a ceremony held at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, New Jersey on June 20th.
