Before Your Procedure
Your surgeon will provide you with any instructions he or she may want you to follow prior to your procedure and will answer any questions you may have relating to your specific surgery or procedure.
If a change in your physical condition develops prior to surgery, such as a cold, persistent cough, fever or rash, notify your surgeon/physician immediately.
Additionally, please take note of the following:
Do not eat or drink after midnight the day of your surgery (unless otherwise instructed).
- Do not smoke up to 12 hours prior to surgery.
- Take essential medications as prescribed by your surgeon with a small amount of water.
- Make arrangements for a ride home. You must have a responsible adult drive you home from the surgical center. You may not take a taxi, bus or train home after your surgery. This is mandated by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services and is for your safety.
Failure to observe these instructions will result in the need to reschedule your surgery or procedure.
