Acute Gout Flares
Title: A Multicenter, Randomized, Double-blind, Active, Controlled Study of the Efficacy and Safety of Rilonacept Administered Subcutaneously for the Treatment of Gout Flares

Purpose: To determine the safety and efficacy of rilonacept alone or in combination with indomethacin in treating the signs and symptoms of an acute gout flare
Eligibility:
People aged 18 to 75 years who have
- Met preliminary American Rheumatism Association criteria for the classification of acute arthritis of primary gout if any of 6 or more of the 13 criteria are present, serially or simultaneously, during any interval of observation or if monosodium urate monohydrate microcrystals have been identified in a joint
- An acute gout attack within 48 hours of pain onset
- Had pain relief from a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug for a previous gout flare
- Current presentation of acute gout flare in 3 or fewer joints
