Lyric can be left in place when you exercise, shower, talk on the phone, and sleep. Its secure fit keeps it in place at all times. In addition, Lyric does not cause the wearer to have a plugged sensation. The device is designed with a state-of-the-art technology that protects it from moisture and earwax. Its battery lasts up to 120 days, and it does not require maintenance between follow-up visits.
During follow-up visits, you will receive a fresh device to ensure that your hearing is the best it can be. Although your audiologist will program Lyric to meet your unique hearing needs, you will be able to adjust the settings and volume as needed. You also will be able turn the device on and off.
Because it is placed deep in the ear canal close to the eardrum, Lyric uses the outer ear (or pinna) as it was naturally intended — to direct and amplify sound into the ear canal. This approach improves your ability to detect the direction of sounds. It also helps localize sounds, reduce feedback, minimize background noise, and improve your ability to hear high-frequencies that often are lost with other hearing devices.

Getting Lyric
Lyric is sold on subscription, which means you must purchase a year’s worth of the devices. They can be fitted and placed in slightly less than an hour during a single office visit. You will not need anesthesia or surgery for the procedure. Most patients suggest that the procedure is entirely comfortable.
After your audiologist places the Lyric device in your ear, he or she will review its use with you and answer your questions.
Follow-up Visits
Lyric devices may be used until they cease to function or for a maximum of 120 days. Individual replacement needs may vary. Replacement usually takes about 10 minutes.
