Nephrology is the diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease and hypertension. Some conditions that can cause kidney failure include hypertension, diabetes, polycystic kidney disease and glomerulonephritis. We diagnose and treat a variety of direct and indirect conditions of the kidney, including:

  • Acute and chronic renal failure
  • Blood or protein in the urine
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Kidney function that declines over time
  • Electrolyte imbalances
  • Kidney stones
  • Hypertension (high-blood pressure)

Treatment options used at Summit Medical Group include hemodyalsis, peritoneal dialysis and when necessary, kidney transplant. Because of the complex role of the kidneys in your overall health, we recommend that you work closely with your primary physician (internist or pediatrician) in any diagnosis or treatment.
