Pulmonary Medicine focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect the lung. These include asthma, COPD, emphysema, bronchitis, pneumonia, pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, lung nodules and lung cancer. Disorders of breathing that occur during sleep such as obstructive sleep apnea are also evaluated and treated through the pulmonary department.
If you experience symptoms of coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing, chest pain, sleepiness, snoring, gasping for breath at night, or have been found to have an abnormality on a lung scan or x-ray then you may need a pulmonary evaluation.
