Adoreli Abano, APN is a member of Summit Medical Group's Geriatric Services team and is established in adult gerontology care and support, including both assessment and counseling.
Ms. Abano acknowledges the importance of seeing a patient as an entire person and not limiting them to their illness or disease. Her approach to patient care is developed based on what is most important to the individual, truly believing it makes a huge difference in the treatment outcome. “I want to help my patients in whatever way I can, be it just for that moment or for the rest of their lives.” She recognizes that geriatric patients are part of a special population who require extra care and thoughtful decision making, which oftentimes includes involvement and coordination with a patient’s family members.
Ms. Abano has been a nurse for over twenty years. Prior to joining Summing Medical group, she worked as a nurse practitioner in geriatric medicine at a private practice both on location and off-site doing house visits. She also worked as a nurse practitioner in internal medicine at the Heart Center for the Oranges. Ms. Abano is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and a member of Sigma Theta Tau.
When she is not working with patients, she enjoys traveling with friends and spending time with her family. She seeks adventure and is not afraid to try new and different things. She’s willing to try anything once! When in need of a little rest and relaxation, she meditates, does yoga or ventures off on long walks or hikes.
