I am not accepting new patients.
Alan E. Thomas, MD has been a member of Summit Medical Group’s Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine department since 1996. With his interest sparked as a Boy Scout learning first aid, Dr. Thomas became further interested in medicine while doing volunteer service projects with his church’s youth group, while working in the Recovery Room at Morristown Medical Center, and as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with the Chatham Emergency Squad.
Dr. Thomas's guiding philosophy is, "Always listen very carefully to your patients and their parents. They’ll tell you what's wrong." He adds, "I'm focused on safety and preventative medicine. I would never give my patients any medication, vaccine, or advice that I wouldn't give to my own children."
A native of Chatham, New Jersey, Dr. Thomas has been a patient of the Summit Medical Group his entire life. He says, "My children are now the fourth generation in my family to call Summit Medical Group home for their health care. It's an honor and pleasure to serve the community in which I was raised."
Dr. Thomas served on Summit Medical Group’s Board of Directors for eight years, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Enright Melanoma Foundation, a group dedicated to raising sun safety awareness and helping prevent melanoma through education and early detection. Dr. Thomas has been featured in New Jersey Monthly "Top Doctors" listings five times since 2010. His patients and their parents have also named him for the past several years in New Jersey Family "New Jersey's Favorite Kids' Docs" listings.
Dr. Thomas is fluent in Spanish.
