Lama El Zein, MD, specializes in family medicine and palliative care. She focuses on medical management, symptoms control and helps patients and their families coping with serious illnesses such as dementia, cancer, heart failure, and advanced lung diseases. Dr. El Zein sees patients in the office, at home and in subacute rehabilitation facilities to help those with complex medical needs through the different healthcare settings.
Prior to joining Summit Medical Group, Dr. El Zein was a faculty member at the Center of Family and Community Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, NY, where she remains on faculty. At Columbia, Dr. El Zein founded an outpatient palliative care clinic where she led an interdisciplinary team caring for patients with advanced illnesses. She is also the recipient of the 2013 Patient Centered Care Excellence Award.
Dr. El Zein is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care and the Lebanese Order of Physicians. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Family Medicine.
When not working with patients, Dr. El Zein enjoys traveling with her family.
