Lisa Picascia, MD is a member of Summit Medical Group's Family Medicine team. Dr. Picascia provides medical and preventive care to people of all ages – children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. She has additional expertise in women’s health care with special interest in treating adolescent women’s health. She offers pelvic exams and cervical cancer screenings. As a family medicine practitioner, Dr. Picascia aims to help people live their most healthy, happy and productive lives, which includes providing education on prevention of the most common chronic diseases that plague the health of our communities.
Dr. Picascia’s desire to practice medicine stemmed from her experience witnessing the negative effects chronic disease had on those around her. “Disease and illness prevention can have an enormous impact on the overall health of the community and as a family medicine doctor, I hope to do my part to educate and provide high-quality care while building long-lasting relationships with my patients.”
She is trained and skilled in screening for certain diseases and cancers and is an advocate for the use of evidence-based medicine to treat a variety of conditions. She also has extensive training in Integrative Medicine and can form comprehensive treatment plans for patients that includes complementary therapies in addition to conventional medical treatment. When possible, she uses the least invasive methods of treatment, including mind-body medicine, nutrition, supplements and recommendations for positive lifestyle changes. Her training in Integrative Medicine has given her the tools to treat patients with a combination conventional medicine and evidenced-based complementary therapies. She is passionate about plant-based nutrition and using food as medicine to prevent and treat certain medical conditions. By providing patients with tools, resources, and support, Dr. Picascia hopes to empower patients to take care of themselves.
