About Me
Ashley Appleton, LPC, NCC, is a member of Summit Medical Group's Behavioral Health and Cognitive Therapy team. Ms. Appleton is trained to offer behavioral health for a range of mental health conditions as well as substance abuse care to adults. She practices from a cognitive behavioral therapy framework, exploring the links between thoughts, emotions, and behavior in order to successfully treat individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), personality disorders, low self-esteem and those who have endured trauma. She also has expertise in providing individual and couples therapy and experience in treating minority stress and LGBTQ+ issues, with special training in affirmative therapy specifically for the LGBTQ+ community. Ms. Appleton is passionate about working with marginalized communities, making mental health care accessible to all, and promoting the importance of a focus on mental wellness. As a mental health provider her goal is to work collaboratively with patients to identify and unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior and then help them overcome those behaviors via an individualized treatment plan that fits their unique needs.
“It is my belief that every client has the strength within them to persevere and therefore, I make sure my sessions focus on their strengths and resourcefulness,” she says.
Ms. Appleton is a student member of both the American Psychological Association and the Association of Black Psychologists. She is also a member of the American Counseling Association, and the New Jersey Counseling Association.
She is an avid traveler who loves to experience new places and cultures. She also enjoys reading and spending time with her loved ones.
