About Me
Francesco Santoni-Rugiu, MD is a member of Summit Medical Group's Cardiology team. Dr. Santoni-Rugiu is a cardiac electrophysiologist who specializes in heart rhythm disorders with a focus on complex implantable cardiac devices such as pacemakers and implantable defibrillators along with the analysis and correction of the triggers of atrial fibrillation. He treats heart rhythm issues, performs pacemaker and defibrillator implants, and completes upgrades of pacemakers and defibrillators. Dr. Santoni-Rugiu’s care philosophy is to provide individualized precision medicine to advance quality of life. “My goal is for my patients to find their optimal quality of life and reach their functional capacity. To aid in that process, I encourage open communication and actively involve my patients in their care,” says Dr. Santoni-Rugiu.
Dr. Santoni-Rugiu is an accomplished researcher and presenter in his field as well as a member of the Heart Rhythm Society. He has been involved for some time in the development of heart rhythm services on the island of Jamaica as part of a large academic center project. He enjoys studying languages and is conversant in English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Russian. In his spare time, he likes to garden.
