About Me
Dr. Altman specializes in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. He is a cardiologist who diagnoses and treats patients with abnormal heart rhythms. He comes to Summit Medical Group from Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai Roosevelt where he was an attending physician, the Co-Course Director of the Cardiac Pathophysiology Course, and Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Altman believes that each patient requires a comprehensive personalized approach to treatment. In the office he sees patients in consultation to assess and diagnose heart rhythm problems. When appropriate, he is also experienced in the minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms with procedures called catheter ablations. He implants heart rhythm devices such as pacemakers, implantable defibrillators (ICDs), and cardiac resynchronization devices (CRT). He has published extensively in his field in peer reviewed journals and has spoken at national conferences including the American Heart Association and the Heart Rhythm Society. His research focuses on the identification and treatment of patients who have not responded to prior therapy.
He is board certified in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, Cardiovascular Disease, and Internal Medicine. He is a Fellow the American College of Cardiology, a member of the Heart Rhythm Society, and a member of the Paul Dudley White Society for Alumni of the Cardiology Division of The Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University.
Outside of seeing patients Dr. Altman enjoys spending time with this wife and two children. He enjoys exercising, listening to music, and is an accomplished Jazz Trombonist.
