Click to enlarge The knee and hip joints are the strongest joints in the human body. Knees allow the lower leg to move relative to the thigh while supporting the body’s weight. Hips also bear our body’s weight and be strong enough to endure the force exerted by the strong muscles of the upper and lower legs in motion. Yet the hip joint is also one of our most flexible joints and allows a greater range of motion than all other joints in the body except for the shoulder. In addition to bearing our full body weight while providing a wide range of motion, the hip and knee must perfectly synchronize with each other.

Hip and knee problems can occur at any stage of life, from high school athletes with a torn knee ligament to baby boomers with onset arthritis.  Most people will at some point have knee or hip issues.
