What is Neurological Surgery?
Neurosurgery is the medical specialty that deals with diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries, and problems of the nervous system.
Neurosurgeons are more than brain surgeons. They also evaluate and treat neurological disorders that involve any part of the nervous system, including the spine.
Our Neurosurgery Services
Our neurosurgeons treat:
- Brain tumors
- Spinal tumors
- Pituitary tumors
- Spinal stenosis
Patients who require neurosurgery often are those who have neurologic abnormalities including but not limited to: hydrocephalus, intracranial or spinal cord neoplasms, subdural hematomas, intracranial hemorrhages, nerve compression due to injury or herniated discs.
In addition to working with the Neurology department at Summit Health, our neurosurgeons partner with physicians in other medical specialties such as orthopedic surgeons, otolaryngologists, oncologists and ophthalmologists to provide comprehensive care.
